As the COVID-19 global pandemic continues to transform our access to and use of the spaces around us, the need for nature and outdoor recreation has never been more evident. Parks play an essential role in our physical and mental well-being. Your tax-deductible contribution will enable us to develop an outdoor recreational destination and experience second to none. With your help, we also can restore and protect San Damiano’s natural beauty, support regional water and wildlife health, and put carbon back into the ground. Your donation will serve as both a critical and lasting opportunity to “shop local.”
Gifts to San Damiano will go towards the purchase of the property and the development of a site master plan; support for these efforts will come almost exclusively from private donations. The sooner we generate the funds necessary to create the San Damiano Master Plan, the sooner we can transform it into a dynamic, accessible, and family-friendly outdoor destination.
You can give securely online by credit card. The Friends of San Damiano is the official gift-receiving organization for the San Damiano project, and will handle all financial transactions, stewardship of the funds, and gift receipts.

We thank our partners and our generous community for the gifts that will enable us to save and develop San Damiano.
The City of Monona will assume principal ownership of San Damiano, and its leadership is committed to maintaining the property as a public recreational asset in perpetuity. However, as a small City, Monona cannot shoulder the purchase and transformation of the property alone. The City already has received a $2M commitment from Dane County, and will take the lead in securing other public funds.
The Friends of San Damiano is leading all private efforts in support of the purchase, master planning, and site revitalization.
